Kombucha is a fermented, sweetened tea that comes in a variety of fruity and spicy flavors. It adds a unique effervescence to sangria but if you don't have any on hand, you can swap in flavored seltzer in its place.

Ingredients

Apple

4 medium, chopped

Orange

1 medium, thinly sliced

Pomegranate seeds

1 cup(s)

Strawberries

½ cup(s), chopped

Red wine

1 bottle(s), Merlot or Malbec (750 ml)

Orange juice

4 fl oz

Kombucha

2 cup(s), apple variety recommended, chilled (16 fl oz)

Instructions

  1. Place fruit in a large pitcher. Stir in wine and orange juice; refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
  2. When ready to serve, stir in cold kombucha; pour over ice.
  3. Serving size: an 8 fl oz cocktail

Bronx Chef Millie Peartree starting cooking at a very young age, inspired by her mother and her time growing up in the southern United States. Millie is well-known for her famous mini cupcakes but she is also a successful caterer and restaurateur.
