Dressed-up pretzels like these are a simple way to make your snacks into something special. They take less than 15 minutes to make and can last for days in an airtight container, ready when a salty craving strikes. If you prefer a non-spicy version, substitute smoked paprika or mild chili powder. Or, for something less assertive but still flavorful, use onion powder instead. Be sure to spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet so that they toast evenly and don’t become soggy. The pretzels should look dry, not greasy or wet when they come out of the oven.

Ingredients

Unsalted pretzel

5 oz, about 4 cups, mini size

Salted butter

2 tsp, melted

Soy sauce

4 tsp

Cayenne pepper

1 tsp

Garlic powder

1 tsp, with parsley

Table salt

1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Toss the pretzels with butter, spread on a baking pan and bake 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle with soy, cayenne, garlic powder and salt; toss. Bake 2 minutes.
  4. Cool completely. Yields about 2/3 cup per serving.
