Ginger adds a warm, delicate flavor to this comforting fall favorite. Make the cider on your stovetop in Dutch oven or in a slow cooker; either method will make your house smell divine. For your next party, you can double or triple this recipe and warm it all evening for guests to enjoy. Just add all of the ingredients to a slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 4 to 8 hours. Purchase the cloudy, refrigerated version of apple cider, which contains no added sugar or spices and has the best flavor. You’ll need 1 1/2 to 2 lemons to produce enough rind for the cider.

Ingredients

Apple cider

4 cup(s), no sugar added

Cinnamon stick

2 average

Fresh ginger

1 piece(s), 1-inch, peeled and sliced into thin disks
