Total time: 45 min • Prep: 15 min • Cook: 30 min • Serves: 6 • Difficulty: Easy

This folded pizza offers up classic comfort food of the Italian variety. Take advantage of frozen pizza dough, which helps keep this dish to a streamlined 15 minutes of hands-on time, and then let your oven do the rest to get this family-friendly meal on the table. One of the wonderful things about calzones is that they, like pizza, are open to endless interpretations. For this one, swap turkey breast in for the ham or use mozzarella cheese in place of Swiss. After coating the surface of the calzones with cooking spray, feel free to sprinkle on some dried herbs, such as Italian seasoning, basil, or oregano, for a pretty, flavorful finish.

Ingredients

Frozen pizza crust dough

1 pound(s)

Fat free sour cream

0.5 cup(s)

Dijon mustard

4 tsp

Dried oregano

1.5 tsp

Black pepper

0.25 tsp

Lean deli-sliced honey ham

6 oz

Low fat Swiss cheese

4 oz

Cooking spray

1 spray(s)

Instructions

1

Preheat oven to 450°F. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.

2

Divide dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into two 10-inch circles. Transfer circles to prepared baking sheet. Set aside.

3

Whisk together sour cream, mustard, oregano and black pepper. Spread mixture all over both circles, to within 1 inch of edges. Top one half of each circle with half each of ham and cheese. Lift untopped side of dough and fold over filling so it meets other side, forming a half moon. Pinch edges together to seal. Coat surface of calzones with cooking spray.

4

Bake until puffed up and golden brown, about 25 to 30 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. Slice each calzone into thirds. Yields 1/3 calzone per serving.
