Ingredients

Uncooked 93% lean ground beef

1 pound(s), 7% fat or less

Scallions

1 medium, or 2 small, sliced

Teriyaki sauce

3 Tbsp

Fresh ginger

1 Tbsp, grated, peeled, fresh root

Garlic

1 clove(s), minced

Vidalia onion

½ medium, cut into 4 (1/4-inch) rounds

Pineapple

4 slice(s), 1/2-inch thick rings

Cooking spray

14 spray(s)

Cilantro

¼ cup(s), chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium or prepare medium fire. (Or spray ridged grill pan lightly with nonstick spray and set over medium-high heat.)
  2. Mix together beef, scallions, teriyaki sauce, ginger, and garlic in medium bowl until blended but not overmixed. Shape into 4 (3⁄4-inch-thick) patties; spray on both sides with nonstick spray.
  3. Spray onion rounds with nonstick spray. Place patties and onion on grill rack or in grill pan and cook, turning once, until instant-read thermometer inserted into side of burger registers 160°F and onion is lightly charred and tender, about 8 minutes. Spray pineapple on both sides with nonstick spray and grill, turning once, until lightly charred, about 4 minutes.
  4. Place 1 burger on each of 4 plates. Top each with 1 pineapple slice and 1 onion slice, separated into rings. Sprinkle evenly with cilantro, if using.
  5. Serving size: 1 garnished burger
