Here’s a non-alcoholic drink that has refreshing citrus flavor and a truly gorgeous color. In the winter, Coach Tess infuses allspice, ginger, and orange peel into her simple syrup for some warm spicy flavor. If you’re a ginger lover, replace the sparkling water with Fever Tree Naturally Light ginger beer for 1 additional SmartPoints value. You can also swap a blood orange for the grapefruit, if you prefer.

Ingredients

Simple syrup

2 tsp

Grapefruit(s)

1 medium, pink or red (including a wedge for garnish)

Sparkling water

4 fl oz, chilled

Cinnamon stick(s)

1 item(s), or rosemary sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Peel grapefruit, removing all the pith, and carefully slice fruit into quarters. Place one quarter in the base of a cocktail shaker, and muddle grapefruit (you can use a wooden spoon for this; save remaining grapefruit for another recipe or to make more drinks). Add simple syrup and ice to shaker. Shake well and strain into a glass with fresh ice. Top off with sparkling water and garnish with a grapefruit wedge and rosemary sprig or cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.
