Fig season is short but oh, so sweet, and here is one of the best ways to put them on the table. It's one of those appetizers that seems to be way more than the sum of it’s 4-ingredient parts. And the extra bonus? It takes very little time to put together. The figs can be assembled ahead of time, but save drizzling with honey to shortly before serving. Perfectly ripe figs will feel soft, but not mushy, when pressed with your thumb. If the figs feel firm, let them sit at room temperature for a day or more until they are softened. Your patience will be rewarded!

Ingredients

Fresh figs

9 large, large, stemmed and halved

Gorgonzola cheese

2 oz

Walnuts

1 Tbsp, finely chopped

Honey

2 Tbsp

Instructions

  1. Arrange figs, cut-side up, on platter. Spoon about 1⁄2 rounded tsp cheese onto each fig half. Sprinkle with nuts and drizzle with honey.
  2. Serving size: 3 fig halves
