The name of this classic Italian dessert means "little grains," a reference to the tiny ice crystals that make this treat irresistible on a hot summer afternoon. These icy fruit crystals that melt in your mouth. This also works with other frozen fruit and berries. For a creamy treat, lay each serving on a bed of 2 tablespoons fat-free non-dairy topping or nonfat vanilla yogurt and get ready to swoon.

Ingredients

Grapes

3 cup(s), red, seedless (or 3 cups hulled strawberries)

Instructions

  1. Place grapes (or strawberries) in freezer over night, until hard.
  2. Transfer fruit to a food processor fitted with a chopping blade. Process until grainy but uniform, like millions of little ice crystals; serve at once. Yields about 1/2 cup per serving.
