Prepare these decadent turnovers for your next causal brunch gathering and serve them buffet-style along with an assortment of fresh fruit and other pick-up breakfast items. Frozen pizza dough crust jump-starts the prep making them super simple to assemble on the day you plan to dole them out. They’re best served warm so bake them right before your guest arrive. You can use your favorite flavor of pie filling instead of the cherry if desired. For an easy decorative glaze, dip a fork into the powdered sugar mixture and drizzle over the top side of each turnover letting the glaze run off the tines.

Ingredients

Frozen pizza crust dough

10 oz, at room temperature

Canned fruit pie filling

cup(s), cherry

Unsalted butter

½ tsp

Powdered sugar (confectioner's)

¼ cup(s)

1% low fat milk

1½ Tbsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F; spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. On a lightly floured work surface, unroll the dough. With your hands, press it into a square; cut into 4 squares. Place 2 tablespoons of the pie filling in the center of the dough; fold into triangles on the diagonal and press the edges with a fork to seal. Place the turnovers on the baking sheet; brush with the butter. Bake until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Cool slightly on a wire rack.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Brush or drizzle the glaze over the turnovers; serve warm.
