This recipe makes enough for a 3-pound brisket, or similar cut of meat. Make a double or triple batch, and store the rest in an air-tight container and you'll be ready to barbecue or slow cook any time the mood strikes. These flavors all go together beautifully, but you could easily swap out any one that you might not like for another spice that you prefer.

Ingredients

Garlic powder

2 Tbsp

Smoked paprika

1½ Tbsp

Unpacked light brown sugar

1 Tbsp

Chipotle chili powder

1 tsp

Dried oregano

1 tsp

Ground cumin

1 tsp

Kosher salt

1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In small bowl, stir all ingredients. Rub blend evenly on 3 lb of brisket (or other meat) before cooking. Or store in airtight container for up to 6 months.
  2. Serving size: 1 tbsp
