If serving these petite stuffed apples for dessert, go ahead and assemble them an hour or so ahead of time, and pop them into the air fryer when you sit down to eat your meal. By the time you’re done, you’ll have a soulful, warm treat ready for you. Be sure to line the air fryer basket with foil or parchment paper to make cleanup easier by catching any drips that might burn. You’ll need to use small apples so they’ll fit in the basket (and so the filling amount and cook time will work). Purchase bags of snacking apples so you’ll be sure to have the right size.

Ingredients

fresh apple(s)

4 small, (about 5 oz each)

uncooked old fashioned oats

¼ cup(s)

raisins

3 Tbsp

unpacked brown sugar

1 Tbsp

walnut(s)

1 Tbsp, finely chopped

ground cinnamon

¼ tsp

regular butter

1 Tbsp, melted

Instructions

  1. If apples don’t stand up straight, cut a small sliver off the bottom to level them off. Cut tops off apples and reserve. Using a melon baller or paring knife, scoop out apple cores, leaving a ⅔-inch-thick shell. Be sure to leave bottoms of apples intact to hold filling.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine oats, raisins, brown sugar, walnuts, and cinnamon. Drizzle with butter and toss to moisten. Spoon oat mixture evenly into apples, about 2 tbsp per apple.
  3. Preheat air fryer, if necessary, to 300°F. Line bottom of air fryer basket with foil or parchment paper. Arrange stuffed apples in basket, and top gently with reserved apple tops. Air-fry until apples are tender, 22 to 25 minutes.
  4. Serving size: 1 stuffed apple
