This comforting tea doesn’t include actual tea leaves, but rather one of the most classic Mexican flavor combinations: chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mexican chocolate is sold in cakes that are flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, and has a somewhat grainy texture. This tea can be enjoyed any time of day. When the summer heat gets to be too much, just pour it over ice for a refreshing and cooling drink. The almond flour adds a little texture as well as flavor.

Unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ cup(s)

Agave nectar

2 Tbsp

Ground cinnamon

1 tsp

Ground cloves

¼ tsp

Almond flour

1½ Tbsp, toasted

Plain unsweetened almond milk

3 cup(s)

Vanilla extract

2 tsp

Kosher salt

  1. In small saucepan, whisk 1 cup water, cocoa powder, and agave. Bring to simmer and cook, stirring often, until cocoa water is hot, about 2 minutes. Add ground cinnamon, ground cloves, almond flour, and almond milk and simmer, stirring occasionally, until flavors are infused, about 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla and salt.
