This is a wonderful vegetarian side dish for any BBQ of party, and it will feed a nice big crowd. Using canned beans saves lots of time and doesn’t compromise flavor. They turn almost to candy as they slowly cook in the oven. The liquid in the can is mixed in to create a rich sauce for the beans. Bacon or salt pork are often added to baked beans to lend a smoky flavor. We use smoked paprika and find it does a nice job filling in for bacon.
