Watch out: Wasabi powder packs quite a punch. Its heat adds zest to our juicy beef tenderloin and crunchy Asian-style slaw. While this Japanese condiment packs a zippy flavor, it doesn't last for long because it is not oil based. You want to be sure that you use the Wasabi powder or cover it within 15 minutes of exposing it to air, otherwise it will begin to weaken its flavor. Mixing it with the brown sugar in this recipe brings a wonderful contrast between the sweet and spicy. This one-dish-meal makes a quick weeknight dinner, coming together in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients
Wasabi powder
15 tsp, or 5 tbsp
Unpacked brown sugar
2 tsp
Table salt
⅛ tsp, or to taste
Uncooked trimmed beef tenderloin
1 pound(s), cut into four 4 oz pieces
Packaged coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
1 pound(s)
Canola oil
2 tsp
Rice wine vinegar
⅓ cup(s)
Soy sauce
¼ cup(s)
Sugar
1 Tbsp
Instructions
1
Preheat grill or broiler. Stir together 2 tablespoons of wasabi powder, brown sugar and salt. Rub on beef. Grill or broil to desired doneness, about 10 minutes for medium.
