Since sweet potatoes already have inherent sweetness (hence their name), we don’t add any sugar to the filling of this casserole. And the topping—a buttery oat-based streusel with pecans—only contains a hint of brown sugar. The trick to making this the easiest-ever version of the beloved holiday side is to use canned sweet potato puree. Seek out unsweetened puree, as many canned sweet potato products are loaded with sugar. You might have to visit a grocery store specializing in healthier options.
