Old-fashioned oats give structure to cooked steel-cut oats so that once all the oats are baked, they can be cut into bars for an easy grab-and-go breakfast. Toasted walnuts also provide a bit of crunch and are a source of healthy fat.

Ingredients

Slow-Cooker Strawberry Steel-Cut Oats

2 cup(s)

Walnut(s)

0.333 cup(s)

Honey

3 Tbsp

Canola oil

1 Tbsp

Vanilla extract

1 tsp

Table salt

0.25 tsp

Egg(s)

2 large egg(s)

Uncooked old fashioned rolled oats

1 cup(s)

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 11-by-7-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

2

In a large bowl, whisk the strawberry oats, nuts, honey, oil, vanilla, salt, and eggs. Fold in the old-fashioned oats. Spread the oats into the prepared baking dish.

3

Bake until the oats are firm and lightly browned around the edges, about 40 minutes. Let cool in the dish for 10 minutes. Using the ends of the parchment paper, lift the baked oatmeal out of the dish and transfer to a wire rack. Let cool. Cut the oatmeal into 12 bars. Store the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
