This is a classic, sweet dessert that never fails to impress a dinner table. You'll love the fact that it only takes a half an hour to make and requires just five ingredients, one of which is water. All you have to do is arrange the apples in a baking dish, then sprinkle with brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Pour water into the bottom of the dish so the apples steam properly and bake until the apples are tender, which should take about 25 minutes. Top the apple halves with chopped toasted walnuts or pecans just before serving, and your delicious baked apples are ready to serve. It doesn't get much easier than that!

Ingredients

Apple

4 medium, baking variety, halved through the stem end, cored

Packed brown sugar

2 Tbsp

Pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp

Water

3 Tbsp

Chopped walnuts

¼ cup(s), or pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Place the apples, cut side up, in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with the brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
  3. Sprinkle the water in the bottom of the baking dish. Cover the baking dish with foil. Bake the apples until tender when pierced with the tip of a knife, about 25 minutes. Sprinkle the apples evenly with the walnuts. Yields 2 apple halves per serving.
