These fun yet classy dessert kebabs come together quickly, with only a few easy steps—but they look like they took a lot of effort to prepare. The soft strawberries and spongy shortcake pair well together, and drizzled with chocolate they become a decadent treat. They're the perfect go-to for your next summer soiree or as a sweet snack. In fact, why not surprise your mom (or indulge yourself) by making these to serve alongside Mother's Day brunch? It's a gift the whole family will love.

Ingredients

strawberries

12 medium, hulled

shortcake(s)

2 oz, quartered (use two 3-inch shortcake dessert cups)

semi-sweet chocolate chips

¼ cup(s)

reduced-calorie margarine

1 Tbsp

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Onto each of 4 metal or wood skewers, alternately thread 3 strawberries and 2 shortcake quarters.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine chocolate chips and margarine; melt over low heat, stirring until smooth and well blended. Drizzle chocolate mixture over kabobs. Refrigerate until set, about 4 minutes. Yields 1 kabob per serving.
