All the fabulous flavours of a typical Italian sub sandwich but in a much more sensible size. Make sure to toast the buns so they don’t get soggy.

Ingrédients

Romaine lettuce

¾ cup(s), finely shredded

Plum tomato

3 tbsp(s), diced

Red onion

1 tbsp(s), chopped, diced

Red wine vinegar

¾ tsp(s)

Olive oil

½ tsp(s), extra virgin

Dried oregano

¼ tsp(s)

Black pepper

pinch(es), freshly ground

Table salt

tsp(s)

Turkey salami slices

3 oz, thinly sliced

Reduced fat provolone cheese

2 oz, thinly sliced

Reduced calorie hot dog bun

2 roll(s), toasted

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, toss together lettuce, tomato, onion, vinegar, oil, oregano, pepper and salt until blended.
  2. To make each sandwich, layer half of salami and half of cheese in each bun; top with half of lettuce mixture.
  3. Yields 1 sandwich per serving.

Instead of a hot dog bun, try these in pitas (could affect Points values).
