Bring autumn's produce to the table in the form of this lovely sangria. Elderflower liqueur is added to bring a slightly nutty, apple-pear flavour that matches well with the apples and grapes that are sliced then marinated in the wine overnight, allowing the flavours to soak into the fruit. If you’d like, you could substitute the elderberry liqueur with one made with pears or apples, such as Applejack or Poir Williams. The addition of the thyme sprig adds just a hint of woodsy richness that makes this perfect for fall.

Ingredients

White wine

1 bottle(s), 750 ml

Liqueur, elderflower

4 fl oz, 1/2 cup (such as St. Germain)

Grapes

1 medium, cored and thinly sliced

Fresh thyme

2 sprig(s)

Plain or unflavoured seltzer

2 cup(s), preferably apple or grape flavoured, chilled
