The all-American classic gets the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich twist with carrots, cucumbers, sweet chili sauce, and herbs. Full of fresh flavours and creative toppings, you'll savour this as much as a good hamburger during grilling season.

Ingredients

Carrots

1 medium, sliced into ribbons

Cucumber

¼ medium, sliced into ribbons

Rice wine vinegar

1 tbsp(s)

Sugar

½ tsp(s)

Fresh mint leaves

2 tbsp(s), roughly chopped, plus a few leaves for serving

Cilantro

2 tbsp(s), roughly chopped, plus a few leaves for serving

Sweet Thai chili sauce

2 tbsp(s)

Light beef or pork hot dog

4 item(s), cooked

Hot dog bun

4 item(s), split in half

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl combine carrots, cucumber, rice wine vinegar, and sugar. Set aside for 10 minutes. Drain, then toss with the chopped herbs.
  2. Split each roll in half and fill with the carrots and cucumber mixture then top with 1 sausage. Drizzle over the sweet chilli sauce, garnish with the remaining herbs, and enjoy!
  3. Serving size: 1 hotdog
