Our quick and easy dough made from self-rising flour and nonfat Greek yogurt gets a savoury flavour boost from garlic powder and Italian seasoning. The dough is rolled into a rectangle, cut into strips, and twisted to form a classic breadstick shape; then it’s brushed with seasoned olive oil and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese before baking. The cheese melts into the exterior of the breadsticks, where it gives them an irresistible crunchy outer coating. These are best enjoyed warm, so reheat any leftovers in a 250°F oven for a few minutes before serving.

Ingredients

Self-rising flour

1 cup(s)

Italian seasoning

1½ tsp(s), divided

Garlic powder

1 tsp(s), divided

Plain fat free Greek yogurt

¾ cup(s)

Olive oil

1½ tbsp(s)

Grated Parmesan cheese

1½ tbsp(s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, and ¾ tsp garlic powder. Add the yogurt and stir with a wooden spoon until just combined. Knead the dough in the bowl with your hands until smooth, 1 to 2 minutes. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface; roll into a 10 x 8–inch rectangle. Cut the dough crosswise into 8 equal strips. Place the strips on the prepared pan, and gently twist each one.
  3. Combine the oil, remaining ½ tsp Italian seasoning, and remaining ¼ tsp garlic powder in a small cup; brush gently over the breadsticks. Sprinkle the breadsticks evenly with the cheese. Bake at 375°F until golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes.
