A hint of heat comes from the cayenne pepper. Regulate that as you like to get your spice level just right. Kids can enjoy the crispy texture and you will feel good with a homemade snack that packs a protein punch as well. Make a double batch for entertaining or game day gatherings. Play with your spice blend to find new variations.

Ingredients

Cooking spray

5 spray(s)

Canned drained chickpeas

15½ oz

Ground cumin

1 tsp(s)

Smoked paprika

1 tsp(s)

Table salt

¼ tsp(s)

Black pepper

tsp(s)

Cayenne pepper

tsp(s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line small rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Pat chickpeas dry with paper towels and place in prepared baking pan. Stir together cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne in small cup. Lightly spray chickpeas with nonstick spray, sprinkle with spice mixture, and shake pan to coat chickpeas evenly.
  3. Bake, shaking pan once, until chickpeas are crunchy, about 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
  4. Serving size: about 1/4 cup

Notes

You can store the chickpeas at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If they lose their crunch, pop them into a 350°F on a rimmed baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
