This easy riff on poutine features crispy baked-from-frozen steak fries topped with home-made marinara and gooey mozzarella cheese. A hit with kids and grownups!


Ingredients
Frozen French fries prepared without fat
56 oz, steak fries
Canned chopped onions
1 cup(s)
Minced garlic
1 tsp(s)
Canned tomato sauce
15 oz
Italian seasoning
1 tsp(s)
Kosher salt
½ tsp(s)
Part-skim mozzarella cheese
6 oz, diced (1 cup)
Fresh basil
¼ cup(s), chopped
Instructions

Bake steak fries on a lined cookie sheet according to package instructions (until browned and crispy). While fries are baking, heat olive oil over medium heat in a small saucepan. Add onion and kosher salt and cook for 5-7 minutes or until soft. Add garlic, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning and bring to a simmer. When ready to serve top fries with sauce and sprinkle with cheese (place back in the oven for a moment to melt cheese). Garnish with basil and serve.
