Wasabi powder (found at Asian markets and specialty food stores) packs quite a punch. It adds zest to our juicy beef tenderloin and crunchy Asian-style slaw.

Ingredients
Wasabi powder
5 tbsp(s)
Unpacked brown sugar
2 tsp(s)
Uncooked trimmed beef tenderloin
1 pound(s), cut into four 4 oz pieces
Packaged coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
1 pound(s)
Canola oil
2 tsp(s)
Rice wine vinegar
⅓ cup(s)
Table salt
⅛ tsp(s), or to taste
Soy sauce
¼ cup(s)
Sugar
1 tbsp(s)
Instructions
1
Preheat grill or broiler. Stir together 2 tablespoons of wasabi powder, brown sugar and salt. Rub on beef. Grill or broil to desired doneness, about 10 minutes for medium.
2
Stir together slaw, oil, remaining wasabi powder, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar until well coated. Yields about 1 slice beef and 1 cup slaw per serving.
