Ingredients

Cooked frozen shrimp

1½ pound(s), medium-sized (peeled and deveined)

Soy sauce

¼ cup(s)

Ginger root

2 tsp(s), fresh, chopped

Unseasoned rice vinegar

¼ cup(s)

Turbinado sugar

2 tbsp(s)

Apple juice

2 tbsp(s)

Table salt

1½ tsp(s)

Instructions

  1. Place shrimp in a single layer in 9 X 13-inch pan.
  2. Heat soy sauce in a small saucepan until boiling. Stir in ginger; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, until most of the liquid is evapourated, about 5 minutes. Stir in vinegar, sugar, apple juice and salt. Pour mixture over shrimp; cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Arrange shrimp on a serving platter, drizzle with any remaining marinade and serve with toothpicks.
  4. Yields about 4 shrimp per serving.
