This is a grown up fruit salad, the perfect ending to warm weather dinner parties or weekend brunches outdoors. We suggest colourful strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and melon in this salad, but you can use any fruit that’s in season. We mix honey, lemon, and limoncello, then toss in the juicy fruit. Limoncello is a sweet, aromatic liqueur made from lemons, produced mainly in the citrus-growing areas of Southern Italy. It’s widely available, but since it’s fairly easy to make at home, many Italians and Italian-Canadians make their own. It is often served icy cold, so stash your bottle in the freezer.

3 tbsp(s), Italian lemon-flavoured, such as limoncello

2 tbsp(s)

Lemon zest

1 tsp(s)

Fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp(s)

2 medium, peeled, pitted, sliced

Honeydew melon

3 cup(s), cubed

2 cup(s), hulled and quartered

Fresh blueberries

1 cup(s)

Fresh basil

3 tbsp(s), thinly sliced, or mint leaves

  1. In large bowl, stir liqueur, honey, and lemon zest and juice. Add peaches, melon, strawberries, and blueberries and toss to combine. Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours. Stir in basil just before serving.
