Crispy Air Fried Tofu

Soy sauce

Cut the tofu into 6 slices. Arrange on 2 layers of paper towels or clean kitchen towel spread apart in a single layer. Top with addition 2 layers of paper towel or clean kitchen towel. Cover with a sheet pan or cutting board and place a heavy skillet or another cutting board on top to press the tofu down. Let stand for at least 10 minutes and up to 20 minutes, changing out the paper towels halfway through.

Meanwhile, preheat air fryer to 400F, if necessary. In a medium bowl, stir together the soy sauce and salt.

Tear the pressed tofu into rough 1-inch chunks and add to the soy sauce. Gently fold until all the tofu is brown with soy sauce. Let stand.

In a large bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and baking powder. Add the tofu. Gently toss until tofu is heavily coated all over.

Coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Shaking off cornstarch, add the tofu chunks to the basket, spreading out in a single layer. Generously coat the tofu with cooking spray. Air fry for 8 minutes.

Shake basket, then spray tofu once more with cooking spray. Continue air fryer for another 5 to 7 minutes, until golden brown.
