Our cake is so rich and chocolaty, you’d never guess it's low-fat. Bring it on your next picnic in its baking dish, and tote the whipped topping along in the cooler.

Ingredients

All-purpose flour

1 cup(s)

Unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup(s)

Baking soda

1 tsp(s)

Sugar

¾ cup(s)

Liquid egg substitute

¼ cup(s)

Reduced-calorie margarine

3 tbsp(s), melted

Unsweetened applesauce

1 cup(s)

Lite whipped topping

1 cup(s)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and sugar. Beat together egg substitute, margarine and applesauce; blend into dry ingredients.
  3. Spoon mixture into pan and smooth top. Bake until cake feels slightly firm in center, about 25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into 8 pieces. Top each piece with 1 tablespoon of whipped topping.
