Ingredients
Uncooked lean ground beef
8 oz
Chili powder
2 tsp(s)
Cumin seeds
1 tsp(s)
Table salt
½ tsp(s)
Black pepper
¼ pinch(es)
Fat free salsa
⅓ cup(s)
Shredded reduced-fat Mexican-style cheese
½ cup(s)
Baked low fat tortilla chips
8 oz, about 72 chips
Pickled jalapeno peppers
2 tbsp(s), sliced
Instructions
1
Preheat oven to 400ºF.
2
Set a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. When pan is hot, add beef and cook until completely browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks, about 3 to 5 minutes; drain off any fat and return pan to heat. Add chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper; stir to coat beef. Stir in salsa and heat through; remove from heat.
3
Arrange chips in a shallow ovenproof dish; spoon beef mixture over chips and sprinkle with cheese and jalapeño peppers. Bake until cheese melts, about 5 minutes. Yields about 12 topped chips per serving.
