Applesauce is the secret to these moist bars made without a drop of oil or butter. Grab one for breakfast on the run, or cut each piece in half as a sweet snack. Keep ’em on your countertop for 5 days.

Egg

2 large

Plain unsweetened almond milk

1 cup(s)

Unsweetened applesauce

½ cup(s)

Packed brown sugar

Uncooked old-fashioned rolled oats

2½ cup(s)

Baking powder

1 tsp(s)

Table salt

¼ tsp(s), plus 1/8 tsp

Semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, applesauce, sugar, and vanilla. Stir in the oats, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Fold in the chocolate.
