Now this is an unexpected happy hour snack or side dish. Swap in your favourite dressing for the marinara or go dip-less. The crunch and spice stands on its own. Don’t forget to preheat your air fryer! Three minutes is all it takes. You’ll help speed up the cooking process and maximize crispiness. Also important, don’t crowd the food. That means cooking in small batches so there’s plenty of room for the air to circulate and the food to get crispy all over.

Ingredients

Cooking spray

4 spray(s)

String beans

1 pound(s), trimmed

Panko breadcrumbs

½ cup(s)

Grated Pecorino cheese

2 tbsp(s)

Garlic powder

1½ tsp(s)

Dried oregano

½ tsp(s)

Lemon zest

½ tsp(s)

Table salt

½ tsp(s)

Egg

1 large, beaten

All-purpose flour

1 tbsp(s)

Home made marinara sauce

¾ cup(s)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the green beans and drain well. Pat the green beans dry.
  2. In a shallow baking dish, combine the panko, cheese, garlic powder, oregano, lemon zest, and salt. In a second shallow dish, add the egg. In a third shallow dish, add the flour.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Working in batches (to avoid overcrowding the air-fryer basket), roll the green beans in the flour, then dip in the egg, and then roll in the panko until coated. Coat the green beans with cooking spray. Cook the green beans in the air fryer until crispy and browned, about 5 minutes. Repeat with the remaining green beans. Serve the green beans with the marinara.
