How to Start an Activity Routine That Sticks

Try this!
Want to establish an activity routine you can maintain? Use the steps below to make a plan.

Let’s dive a little deeper…
No surprise here: Being active takes time and effort. Choosing something you like, starting small, and building on it as you go can help you begin an activity routine and keep it going. Not a fan of running? Don’t run just because your friends are. Find something you’ll like.
You’re more likely to stick with your plan if it’s something you want to do—and it’s set out in front of you. And when challenges come up, you’ll know how to respond so you keep moving (literally).
Got your routine down pat? Know when you should shift—not stop! If it’s no longer fun, not challenging enough, your schedule changes, or you’re just bored with it, those are good opportunities to modify your plan so the momentum rolls on.
Did You Know?
People who sit less and move more have greater long-term weight-loss maintenance success, according to a 2021 WW Success Registry study.
