For mother-daughter duo, JoAnne and Kelsey, the support they have found from each other while on WW has been a key factor in their success.

Mom, JoAnne, is a lifetime WW member, or in her words what she calls a “Repeat offender. It seems like every couple of years 15-20 lbs finds me again,” she says. Daughter Kelsey has seen success with WW in the past and most recently joined in Studio Workshop with her mom in February where she is “determined to complete my weight loss and achieve my lifetime goal.”

The in-person Workshops, weekly weigh-ins, and added accountability are key reasons why JoAnne has been a Workshop member for the last 25 years. In fact, their Tuesday-night Workshops are a chance to connect, get inspired, and enjoy dinner together afterwards.

For JoAnne, a key to finding success on the journey involved a shift in thinking, “Changing your mindset to thinking of WW not as a diet, but as a lifestyle change that has no ‘end date’,” she says. “I know from my own past experience, that weight loss isn’t always a straight line downwards. It’s normal to have some bumps along the way.”

And their support of each other has been key to making the journey work for them. “My mom helps keep me on track, she keeps me accountable,” says Kelsey. “It always helps to have someone you can share your ideas with. Some nights I’ll even send her a picture of the dinner I just made, just so she knows I’m doing my best to stay on track.”

“We support each other along the way,” Says JoAnne. My daughter’s excellent progress over the past couple of months has been inspiring to me.”

JoAnne and Kelsey answer our questions!

WW: What is your “why” for joining WW?

JoAnne:  WW works best for me. I’ve tried other plans over the years – and they are just not sustainable.  It’s easy and not restricting like other plans.  Its real food and all about choices.  I feel great when I’m at my goal weight.

Kelsey: WW works – Love the app and track faithfully.   I want to lose weight and get back into shape!

WW: How has working the program together helped along your journey?

Jo-Anne:  It’s like having your personal support worker sitting next to you.   We support each other along and celebrate our achievements each week

WW: How do you inspire each other?

Kelsey:  We share recipes and ideas often.  I’m never without my scanner at the grocery store and quite often find a great product and share with my mom.  Tuesday night is our meeting and we always enjoy dinner together afterwards.

JoAnne:  My daughter’s excellent progress over the past couple of months has been inspiring to me.  Definitely noticing the difference!  I will be with her every step of the way and can’t wait till she reaches lifetime status.

WW: What do you think is key to your success on the program?

Kelsey: Attending the weekly meetings.  Mary, our Wellness Coach is amazing and inspiring, she’s so much fun and is genuinely proud of everyone success.

WW: What is your favourite WW tool?

JoAnne:  The App for sure.  Love to find and create new recipes.  I also like the Weeklies with new recipes and try them out regularly.

Kelsey: Definitely the app! Its crucial for me to track, I haven’t missed a day yet.

WW: What’s your favourite Zero Point food?

JoAnne:  Chicken.  There are so many ways to cook it and spice it up!

Kelsey: Fruit. It’s like a treat to have delicious berries or melons.

WW: How do you celebrate each other?

JoAnne/Kelsey:  When one of us reaches a milestone, we will go for a mother/daughter spa treatment such as a manicure/pedicure.   Shopping and buying something new to wear in a smaller size is awesome!
