What is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program and how does it work?
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program helps eligible Medicare members access weight-loss GLP-1 medications. The program starts July 1, 2026 and ends December 31, 2027. Those eligible for the program will get select GLP-1s for $50/month*^.

To qualify for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, you must:
- Have Medicare Part D
- Meet specific BMI and health condition criteria that a doctor must document, mainly:
- BMI of 35 or higher, or
- BMI of 30-34.99 and have diastolic heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease at stage 3a or higher, prediabetes, a previous heart attack or stroke, blocked arteries in your legs or arms with symptoms, or
- BMI of 30 or higher along with certain health conditions, including heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease, or
- BMI between 27-29.99 and have prediabetes, a previous heart attack or stroke, blocked arteries in your legs or arms with symptoms.
- You may not qualify if you:
- Already get GLP-1 drugs covered through your Medicare Part D plan.
- Have type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea, or fatty liver disease (but your Part D plan might cover your GLP-1s).

Members lose 29% more weight with Med+
At 12 months, Med+ members prescribed a GLP-1 medication who engaged regularly with the GLP-1 Success Program lost 29.1% more body weight, on average, than those who did not engage in behavioral support*.
*Based on an internal analysis of 3,325 members who requested at least 1 GLP-1 medication refill through Weight Watchers Med+ and self-reported both a starting weight and weight at week 52. On average, members who logged in to the GLP-1 Success Program at least 4 days each week (n=376) lost 22.20% body weight, and members who never logged in to the app (n=2,949) lost 17.20% body weight in 52 weeks. Not a randomized, controlled clinical trial. Self-reported outcomes have not been independently verified. Individual results may vary.

Who is eligible for the
Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program?
To qualify, you must be 18, have Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage) and meet the program’s clinical criteria:
A BMI of 35 or higher
A BMI of 30 or higher and one or more of the following conditions: a diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, uncontrolled hypertension while on at least two blood pressure medications, or chronic kidney disease stage 3a or above
A BMI of 27 or higher and one or more of the following conditions a diagnosis of pre-diabetes, a previous heart attack or stroke, or symptomatic peripheral artery disease
Those with type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, or MASH (fatty liver disease) are ineligible for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program.
