Points® with purpose: the science behind the budget
Whether you’re new to Weight Watchers or a Points® pro, we’re doing things a little bit differently in All-In Mode. Fiber and protein are so important, they now have their own daily goals in our app. It’s not about eating less—it’s about eating smarter. How you spend your Points matters. Together, we’ll show you how to marry Points and nutrients for a long-term, sustainable way of eating that’s both satisfying and delicious.
Make your Points work harder for you
For years, Weight Watchers’ Points system has helped members by taking complex nutritional information and turning it into a single, easy-to-track number. Now, we’re evolving that system to focus on the other factors that drive weight health.
Focusing on protein, fiber, and hydration helps you choose foods that keep you feeling full and support your muscles, gut microbiome, and hormones. It’s not about restriction, but about giving your body the nutrition it needs while keeping your calories in a range that actually lets you lose weight. Hitting your nutrition targets is key, and your Points budget is still here as a guide for managing portions and balancing your food choices.
Why your Weeklies are on pause
Going All In is all about committing to the best habits to help you lose weight quickly. Unlike other modes that focus on long-term sustainability, All-In Mode is a focused, shorter-term, more intense push toward your goals. Which is why, during All In, we’ve removed those flexible features like Weekly Points and Activity Points—to keep you fully focussed on the habits that will help you maximize your results in the healthiest way.
ZeroPoint® foods help you hit your goals
Selected by our nutrition team, ZeroPoint foods are nutrient-dense, nourishing foods that help you stay fuller for longer while still delivering on taste. Just like the name says, ZPFs don’t have any Points, as a way to encourage you to build your meals and snacks around them. Once you start exploring your ZPFs, you’ll find that, not surprisingly, it’s chock full of lean proteins and sources of fiber, helping you consistently nail those goals.
Zero points doesn’t mean zero calories though. Portions still matter. Check in with yourself before and after you eat to notice how you feel, no matter the Points value.
Practical strategies for eating with purpose
Add, don't just subtract. Denying a craving usually just makes it worse. Instead of forbidding food you want, try having a little and add to it. Craving a bagel? Have half and fill the rest of your plate with scrambled eggs mixed with sliced avocado and cooked kale. You’ll satisfy your craving while also fueling your body with a filling combination of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Many people also find that cravings fade over time as your body adapts to more nutrient-dense foods and doesn’t crave quick, sugary energy.
Eat with mindfulness. It takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to catch up with your stomach and get the “I’m full” message. So take your time, savor your food, and give your body a chance to tell you when it’s had enough.
Build your plate around whole foods. Processed foods are convenient (and we all need convenience every now and then). But your body can tell the difference between the protein from a protein bar and the protein from real chicken. Whole foods—like lean proteins, vegetables, and beans—provide better nutrition and lead to fewer cravings, which makes sticking to your habits way easier in the long run. Start paying attention to how you feel and if you can tell the difference for yourself.
From 'how much?' to 'how well?'
When you’re All In, nutrient-dense food is key. Too many calories can lead to weight gain. But too few nutrients, and your body simply won't function properly. The key is focusing on food with purpose: satisfying, delicious, and nutrient-dense food choices that give your body the energy and support it needs while still keeping you within the calorie range that helps you reach your weight goals.
