Posing naked! Posing naked is my final step in claiming back my body. I’d given up on it: as a size-20 mum-of-three, my aim was to get through each day without being noticed. I didn’t want to look at my body or take care of it. I’d hide in baggy T-shirts, avoiding anything too feminine, in case people thought I was trying to be ‘pretty’.
I feel great! Today, I want to shout: ‘This is my body and I’m going to take care of it!’ Yes, I may have a little cellulite and a few stretch marks, but I feel great. Last summer, I saw a picture of me on Facebook at a belly-dancing class and was horrified by the fat on my stomach. I untagged myself, hoping no one would see, but I knew I had to lose weight. Walking into my first WW Workshop was terrifying, but I came out feeling so focused. I got the app and started tracking. Once I’d lost 2st, I joined a gym, which really helped me to stay motivated.
More confident than ever Now, I’m more confident than ever: I talk to people more at the school gates and wear bright colours, instead of black. My daughter put her arms around me the other day and said: ‘I’m so proud of you.’ And I’m proud of me, too.
