Make time for me-time
Where do you feature on your to-do list? Chances are it’s near the bottom. But getting some time to yourself is important for your weight loss and wellbeing

Did you know happier people make healthier choices? That’s why it’s so important to make time for you – every single day. Because when you start to prioritise Number One, it becomes much easier to make positive changes.
Start your own happiness project today, and discover some simple ways to find some me-time:
Fake it till you make it! Studies show that forced laughter can trigger a real attack of the giggles, boosting feel-good hormones. Search online for laughter yoga exercises, or watch your favourite funny DVD.
Keep a gratitude diary. Every night, write down three things you’re grateful for, however small. Practising gratitude can help change the way your brain works, helping you to feel happier and healthier.
Stick to a regular bedtime. A lack of sleep leaves you tired and cranky, and can disrupt levels of hunger hormones in your body. So you could end up overeating high-calorie comfort foods with no energy to exercise.
Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. You’ve been criticising yourself for years and it hasn’t worked? See what happens if you approve of yourself! Make a list five things you like about yourself and look at it every day.
Be your own best friend. You wouldn’t let a friend say she was fat, lazy or useless, so why talk to yourself like that? Treat yourself the same way you treat everyone you love: with kindness and respect.
Take a walk. Not only does exercise provide me-time, experts say being outside in green spaces can boost your mood and lift energy levels. So grab a friend – or the dog – and hit the park.
