Give your fridge a facelift

One of the biggest obstacles to losing weight could be hiding in your kitchen cupboards – even though you’re making the right choices, snacks squirrelled away on the shelves can still tempt you off track.

And if your fridge isn’t stocked with healthy foods, you’re more likely to reach for a quick fix. Set your kitchen up for success with these simple cupboard-makeover tips.

1. Time for a stock take
Check what food you have, in cupboards and the fridge. If you find something on the No Count list, bring it to the front of the shelf, so it’s the first thing you reach for – and then use our handy Shopping List to restock with plan-friendly options.

2. Clear out ‘red flag’ foods
Go through your cupboards and remove biscuits, sweets, cakes or other high-calorie snacks; that way, you’ll be less tempted to eat mindlessly when you’re bored. Then, either give them away to friends or stick a few in a ‘treat box’ for when you want to use some of your weekly allowance.

3. Shop smart
Need a quick way to make your supermarket shop easier? Keep the No Count food list at hand and stock up on your favourites, such as wholewheat pasta, calorie-controlled brown bread or 0% fat Greek yogurt – that way, you’ll know that you’re always prepared with healthy options at home.

4. Stock up on fruit and veg
Revamp that bottom drawer in your fridge. Almost all fruit and veg is zero SmartPoints, so be bold and add some new ones to your repertoire! They make a quick and easy snack, and are perfect for popping into lunchboxes or bulking out dinners.

5. Get inspired
