4 healthy fast-food ideas
Takeaways? So last year. Give dining in a go instead with these ‘fake’-away tips

One of the best bits about the Points system is that you can eat the foods you love. But when you’re trying to steer yourself in a healthier eating direction, ordering a takeaway can feel like a minefield. So, why not make your own? With a little planning and a few minutes in the kitchen, you can enjoy a healthier, cheaper, and – dare we say it? – tastier version of your favourite order.
Fakeaway fried chicken
Brush skinless chicken pieces with Dijon mustard, dip them in egg whites, and coat in breadcrumbs. Mist a frying pan with calorie-controlled cooking spray and add 2 tsp olive oil, then heat to medium-high. Add the chicken and cook for about 5 minutes per side.
Build-your-own burgers
Mix lean minced beef with lean minced turkey or chicken breast, then grill your burger on a preheated rack, letting the fat drip away from the meat. Top it off with grilled bacon medallions and plenty of salad and serve with a side of 0 Points butternut squash ‘chips’.
Ready-in-10 pizzas
Top soft flour tortillas with tomato passata, light mozzarella cheese, and toppings such as rocket, pineapple, sliced veg or prawns. Bake in an oven at 200°C, fan 180°C, gas mark 6 for 10 minutes until golden and melted.
DIY stir-fry
Spray a wok with calorie-controlled cooking spray and heat it over a high heat. Quickly stir-fry sliced broccoli, courgette, mange tout, and thinly sliced cabbage until tender. Add a few tablespoons of soy sauce and rice vinegar for flavour, and serve over brown rice.
