Get laser-focused with your goals!

Try this!

Ready to make a change or try something new? Break down your goal with these simple steps so your intention becomes action.

Get laser-focused. What’s your goal? (Maybe it’s waking up early to exercise or learning to cook a special meal.) When and where will you do it? Will anyone be with you? How many steps do you need to reach your goal? One or two simple steps: Go to Question 3 Three or more steps (or they’re a bit more complex): Divide into smaller steps and focus on one at at a time. How do you think you’ll feel when it’s go-time? If you think you might be tired, stressed, or busy, consider what tweaks you can make to your goal so it’s something you’ll want—and be able—to do in the moment! Or try another time or place! Identify any barriers that might get in your way—and think of how you’ll respond. On a scale of 1 to 10, ask yourself, “How confident am I that I can achieve this goal?” 1 to 3: Modify your goal into smaller goals that you can tackle later. 4 to 6: Tweak your goal until your confidence feels like it’s a 7...or higher! 7 to 10: Go for it!

Let’s dive a little deeper...

Why can it sometimes be so tough to make a change...especially if it’s good for us?

You can thank the intention-action gap.

The intention-action gap is the disconnect between what we want to do (our intentions) and what we actually do (our actions).

To bridge that gap and achieve your goal, make it realistic.

By splitting a goal into a few practical steps, you’re more likely to achieve it. Envisioning how you’ll feel in the moment - and anticipating how you’ll respond to any obstacles - can help.
