Banish perfectionism once and for all

Try this!

Stop striving for perfection by seeing what you have in common with someone you look up to.

1. Pick someone you admire. You don’t have to know them! 2. List the qualities you value most about them. Find three that you share. 3. Describe a setback they’ve faced. 4. Think about a similar challenge you’ve been (or are going) through. Take time to reflect. We’re all human: Just like we share strengths, we also struggle and experience setbacks. That’s universal!

Let’s dive a little deeper...

Everyone wants to do well. But striving for perfection can easily get in the way of your goals. It can make you less likely to try new things - like moving more or eating healthier - because you’re worried your efforts won’t be good enough. And when you encounter a challenge? You might stop trying to reach for your goals or keep working toward the same goal over and over… can you say burnout?

That’s why treating yourself like you would a friend (aka offering yourself some grace) is so helpful and important. By seeing the similarities you have with someone you admire, you’re reminding yourself that you, too, are human and humans can face roadblocks. The important part is picking yourself up and getting back on track in the here and now.
