3 big breakfast benefits

It should be the easiest meal to organise, but many of us miss out, skipping breakfast at least once a week or never eating it. But getting this meal right is important when it comes to losing weight. Here’s why.

1. Healthy breakfast foods such as lean proteins, eggs, wholegrains, fruit and vegetables [not all fruit and veg are high in protein], can help you stay fuller for longer. They can also boost your intake of vital vitamins, and may help improve your mood, concentration and focus.

2. People who eat breakfast are more likely to lose weight – and keep it off. Research shows missing breakfast means you’re more likely to snack on unhealthy foods throughout the day.

3. Tracking what you eat and drink helps you feel in control of your eating. So tracking your breakfast at the start of each day puts you back in the weight-loss driving seat.

Not at home for breakfast?

You can still make the right choices when you’re on the go.

At work – make sure you’ve got a few sachets of oats, stashed in your drawer for a ‘deskfast’.

In the car – take some fruit with you, or check the Weight Watchers app to find smart choices at the petrol station.

On the train – put some cereal and 0% fat Greek yogurt in a jar or pot with a lid for your commute. And don’t forget the spoon!
