6 tips to reboot your motivation


1. Quiz yourself and regularly check in

When you feel your motivation waning, tap back into why you started your journey. Not just what your health and wellness goals are but WHY they are your goals. Take the time to write down your “whys” and keep them somewhere visible so you can feel constantly inspired.


2. Set yourself some non-scale goals

A big part of the WW program is recognising that you’re so much more than just a number on a scale. What’s happening on the scale isn't the only measure of how successful you’re being in trying to live a healthier, happier life – it’s not just the weight you lose; it’s the life you gain.

Celebrate going for your first run, hitting your activity goal for the week, going to bed earlier or finally cooking those new healthy recipes that you’ve been meaning to try.

3. Celebrate your success

An important part of any wellness journey is taking time to celebrate your successes. Acknowledging major achievements will not only help to give your morale a boost, but it can also give you a stronger sense of drive and purpose towards your goals. Whenever you reach one of your wellness-milestones (such as you first run or when you’ve made an exciting new nutritious meal), take the time to reward yourself by sharing your ‘wellness win’ with a loved one or by doing something nice for yourself (such as taking a warm bath or reading a book). Celebrating your victories frequently in these small ways will help you to stay motivated, whilst also giving yourself essential reflection time to recognise your accomplishments.


4. Find your movement tribe

Moving more doesn’t have to be intimidating, isolating and strictly disciplined activity – it can be fun, social and empowering. Group activities not only provide us with support and an opportunity to socialise, but they’ve also been proven to help us move more and increase our overall wellness too – talk about power in numbers! Getting involved in a fitness community, like a regular class, team sport or bootcamp, can make it easier to stay motivated. Engaging in group activities cannot only make exercise more fun and enjoyable, but it also makes you accountable to others to show up, which can be a great motivator.


5. Surround yourself with support

Research proves that getting support from others can help you stay on track towards your goals.. Find a friend, family member, or coach who you can talk with about your journey and give you the support you need, when you need it. 6. Update your playlist

Listen to some upbeat music when you’re exercising, gardening or doing the housework and you’ll walk further, dance longer and jump higher – often without realising it. In fact, research shows that the right music can increase exercise endurance by about 15 per cent.
