Swap normal baked beans at breakfast time for these spicy ones. Breakfasts will not be boring with this spice!

Ingredients

Olive oil

1 tsp

Shortcut bacon

27 g, (2x15g slices) fat trimmed, chopped

Red onion

½ medium, chopped

Canned diced tomatoes

400 g, (1x400g can)

Barbecue sauce

1 tbs, spicy variety

Canned mixed beans

400 g, (1x400g can)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add bacon and onion and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until bacon is golden and onion has softened.
  2. Add tomatoes, sauce and beans and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Serve.

Notes

SERVING SUGGESTION: Multigrain sourdough toast. TIP: You can use cannellini beans or red kidney beans instead of four-bean mix.
