Ham and cheese welsh rarebit
This gourmet toasty uses a creamy cheese sauce over chunky pieces of ham for a comforting meal that makes the ultimate weekend lunch
Reduced fat oil spread
¾ cup(s), (180ml)
60 g, coarsely grated
White sourdough bread
4 slice(s), (4x40g)
Deli-sliced leg ham
150 g, sliced
- Preheat grill on high. Melt canola spread in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until bubbling. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and combined. Remove from heat. Stir in two-thirds cheese until melted and smooth.
- Grill one side of bread until toasted. Place ham on untoasted side of bread. Top with sauce and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Grill for 3 minutes or until golden and heated through. Season with freshly ground black pepper. Serve.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Green salad.TIP: You can use sliced leftover turkey instead of ham.
