Why order take-away when you can make these healthier beef burgers at home in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

red onion

1 medium, half finely chopped and half thinly sliced

extra lean beef mince

500 g

egg(s)

1 medium, lightly beaten

wholemeal bread roll

4 medium, (4x50g), split in half

butter lettuce

1 cup(s), (8 small leaves)

tomato(es)

1 medium, thinly sliced

pickled gherkin, drained

2 individual, thinly sliced

oil spray

1 x 3 second spray(s)

Instructions

  1. Combine finely chopped onion, mince and egg in a medium bowl. Shape mixture into four 2cm-thick patties.
  2. Lightly spray a large non-stick frying pan or chargrill with oil and heat over medium heat. Cook patties for 10 minutes, turning occasionally, or until cooked through. Serve burger patties in burger buns filled with lettuce, remaining sliced onion, tomato and gherkins.

Notes

TIP: For added flavour, spread 1 tsp tomato sauce over each burger patty. The SmartPoints remain the same.
