Top cooked tender apples and mixed berries with a crunchy crumble for a great tasting dessert

Ingredients

Apple(s)

3 medium, Granny Smith variety, peeled, cored, cut into 2cm cubes

Frozen berries

200 g, mixed variety

Plain flour

cup(s), (50g)

Reduced fat oil spread

30 g

Rolled oats, dry

40 g

Raw sugar

1½ tbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Combine the apple with 2 tablespoons of water in a small saucepan. Cook, covered, over medium heat for 8 minutes or until tender but it still holds its shape.
  2. Stir through the berries. Divide between four 1-cup (250ml) capacity ovenproof ramekins.
  3. Place the flour in a large bowl. Use your fingertips to rub the spread into the flour until the texture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats and sugar. Sprinkle over the berry mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until the mixture is bubbling and the crumble is golden and crisp.

Notes

SERVING SUGGESTION: Reduced-fat vanilla custard.
