Blushing orange champagne cocktail

When you’re toasting a special moment, you’d better make sure the drink you raise is worthy of the occasion. This one definitely is. It plays with the idea of a mimosa but puts more emphasis on the sparkling wine. And the tiny splash of bitters gives a delicious sophisticated edge. You can use navel, cara cara, or blood oranges—whichever you prefer—just note that the colour of your cocktails will vary depending on the citrus you use. If you have it or can find it, use orange-flavoured bitters for a real treat. Double or triple the recipe if you're serving a larger group.

Ingredients

Champagne

2 cup(s), chilled

Fresh orange juice

⅓ cup(s)

Orange-flavoured liqueur

2½ tbsp(s)

Bitters

½ tsp(s)

Orange

¼ medium, cut into 4 wedges

Instructions

1

In a small pitcher, gently stir together the champagne, juice, liqueur, and bitters. Divide evenly among 4 champagne glasses. Garnish with the orange slices.
