Our two-ingredient dough—made from self-rising flour and Greek yogurt—is the starting point for these easy funnel cakes. The dough gets a flavor boost with a little vanilla extract and cinnamon, then is shaped into long, skinny ropes that snake around each other to replicate the shape of a classic funnel cake. A quick turn in the air fryer makes them crispy on the outside, with a wonderfully chewy interior. A generous dusting of powdered sugar is the perfect finishing touch. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the funnel cakes at 375°F for 5 to 8 minutes.

Ingredients

Self-rising flour

1 cup(s)

Plain fat free Greek yogurt

1 cup(s)

Vanilla extract

1 tsp(s)

Ground cinnamon

½ tsp(s)

Cooking spray

8 spray(s)

Powdered sugar (confectioner's)

1½ tbsp(s)

Instructions

  1. Place flour, yogurt, vanilla, and cinnamon in a medium bowl; stir well with a wooden spoon until just combined and then keep mixing dough in bowl with your hands until smooth (about 2 minutes of kneading). If dough is too sticky to knead, add more flour, 1 Tbsp at a time, until no longer sticky.
  2. Place a large piece of parchment paper on a work surface and sprinkle with a little flour; place dough on paper. Use a knife to cut dough into 4 equal pieces. Break each piece of dough into 6 pieces; roll each into a long, thin rope, about 8-10 inches long. Loosely pile all 6 dough ropes onto each other to form a funnel cake. Repeat process with remaining 3 pieces of dough.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place 2 funnel cakes in basket. Spray funnel cakes with cooking spray. Air-fry funnel cakes until lightly browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Place cooked funnel cakes on a plate. Repeat process with remaining 2 funnel cakes. Dust funnel cakes with powdered sugar and serve warm.
